We lived here for 23 years and had the annexe done in 1997. The house was derelict when we bought it and since then we have been through the house and refurbished it. The house is a beautiful Edwardian style property. It is very large with big rooms and high ceilings, which you do not get nowadays. I believe it was built around 1910 for the Chislet Coal Mine, and was actually used for their Union Meeting Hall. The 2 bedroom annexe is really a self contacted house in itself. It really has been ideal as my in-laws have lived here since we built it. It meant they were still able to maintain their independence, yet still be right next door if they needed us.
