Property description
This wonderful home spoils you with fantastic levels of character, a great deal of individuality as well as flexible and extremely spacious accommodation.
The skilled craftsmanship that created this home becomes very apparent as soon as you approach the property. Admiration for the years of hard work and skilled talent that established this home continues as soon as you enter into its beautifully grand entrance hall.
The magnificent tiled entrance hall opens onto both the formal drawing room and dining room in addition to the music room/study – all with original fireplaces and bookcases. The remainder of the accommodation provides an excellent kitchen area including separate utility room along with two conservatories and a further first floor study. There are also three cellar rooms on the lower ground floor.
The home currently has four formal, en-suite bedrooms, along with a further three bedrooms served by a family bathroom on the second floor. The two informal reception rooms on this floor mean the accommodation is versatile.
The home sits in the middle of a generous plot with gardens to the front and rear. There are a number of timber outbuildings which could also be included, subject to negotiation and the substantial driveway can accommodate numerous vehicles.
This fine Old Rectory is situated in a popular South Wight Island village which is served well with superb walks and bridle paths, a highly regarded village public house and other amenities. The village is in a sheltered spot only a short distance from the Island’s dramatic coastline and beaches.
This property provides a superb level of variable accommodation. It has been used both as a fine family home as well as a Bed & Breakfast in the past and could easily provide holiday let accommodation, or house a separate family member, if required.
This beautiful period home is truly to be admired and surely needs to be seen.
What the Owner says:
Living in this beautiful Old Rectory has given us a great deal of pleasure. Built in 1868 by the rector of Whitwell, with no expense spared, the house is full of fine original detail. We have kept the décor up to date and in recent years extended the kitchen area to provide a lovely family room.
We have enjoyed using it as both a fantastic family home, as well as utilising some of the rooms as a Bed & Breakfast business.
Having now reached retirement, it is time for us to hand this beautiful property into the care of someone else.
