The village is well served by local regular buses to Crediton and Exeter and is 3 miles from Morchard Road station on the Barnstaple to Exeter Tarka line. It has an attractive mixture of old thatched cottages and modern houses with amenities such as the parish church, primary school, Doctors Surgery, post office stores, garage and London Inn. There is also a sports club, tennis court, village hall and a bowling green and DOWN ST MARY is a small quiet village with a picturesque Green, a church and village hall.
