Property description
Despite being set in the heart of a busy village, this property is set well back from the road and as soon as you close the gates behind you, this home feels like a little oasis.
Unusually, there is a garage and off road parking with room to accommodate a motorhome, an estate car and at least two visitors cars.
The property combines the charm of an older property with the practicality of a modern home. Originally built as a two storey timber framed barn circa 1890 the property was sympathetically extended in 1987 to the current layout. In addition to a wood-burner there is gas central heating and double-glazing.
The garden wraps right around the house and enjoys sunshine all day in one part or another. To the North side there is a sunken patio which is pleasantly shady even on the hottest days. The garden is enclosed. For dog walkers you can walk your dog for miles within a few minutes of the cottage. The walks include woodlands, fields and a lake for swimming. Foxes, deer and even the elusive kingfisher has been seen! There is also a stunning National Trust garden at the end of the High Street.
All this and good transport links into Brighton and London, what more could you ask for?
What the Owner says:
We moved here twenty two years ago and immediately loved the central village location. Within a couple of minutes level walk there are various shops including a general store, butcher, post office, hairdresser, traditional hardware and craft shop, newsagent and florist. We also enjoy a cappuccino in the local coffee shop. The village is a friendly place with a real sense of community.
There is a doctors surgery, a dentist and local primary school all within walking distance not to mention the Red Lion Public House which has a good reputation for food. Sadly, we now have to move to be closer to elderly parents and it will be difficult to find a home we love as much as ours.
