Property description
Five bedroom detached property dating back to the 18th Century. With 2777sq.ft. of accommodation, this spacious family home offers commanding views across Woolley Valley. Comprises entrance hall, sitting room, dining area, kitchen, snug, master en-suite, family bathroom, utility room and cellars.Jayne, Lloyd, young daughter plus dogs moved into Nightingale House more than 18 years ago. As admirers of Bath and the lifestyle it offers, they wanted to live in the city but were looking for a home with more space and accessibility for a young family than the properties of Bath city centre could provide.Situated about 2 miles outside of the city centre, Nightingale House is within walking distance of all you could possibly need: shops, deli, cafés, dentist, park and nursery. State and private schools are only a short drive away. We also benefit from having a large, private garden space and parking for numerous vehicles, which is nearly impossible in Bath city centre. 18 years ago when we saw Nightingale House for the first time, it was the view that stopped us in our tracks. The land around the house had not been landscaped and needed some work, however we could see that it had great potential. It is not in a conservation area and we bought it with confidence, knowing we could transform it into the perfect home for our family. We have levelled out the garden to create a great area for children to play and adults to entertain. We especially enjoy having our breakfast on the terrace, taking in the wonderful view, with the sun shining on our backs.Having spent some time in New Zealand, we wanted to ensure all of the rooms were light and airy. Our living area is all open plan, with stripped wooden floors which makes for fantastic entertaining and is also a practical family space. We have double glazed windows though-out and last year we completely redecorated and painted. We have beautiful fires in three bedrooms, the kitchen and the sitting room. Our favourite spot in the property is near the large picture windows on the ground floor where we can overlook the valley from the comfort of our sofa. It is breath-taking as the valley changes daily and we often spot deer wandering in our field. Storage, a family essential, is amazing throughout the property. We have a huge cellar that is divided into four, which includes a utility room, space for bicycles and plenty of wine. There are also two roomy lofts for all storage needs. The location of the property, just north of Bath, means it is a short drive from the M4, perfect for commuting either way along the motorway. There are also bus links at the bottom of the hill and Bath Spa Railway Station is a short drive and very pleasant cycle away. Nightingale House is the perfect practical family home. We live very comfortably here and never worry when umpteen guests surprise us by coming to stay, as there is plenty of space. Even if they bring their pets, we look forward to enjoying the lovely country walks on offer nearby. Nightingale House is not a show house, it is a family home.
