Property description
The Rocks is a stunning family home surrounded by views of the valleys and complete tranquillity. Gavin and his family were drawn here 8 years ago by the beautiful location and the easy access to Bath and beyond.
We werent aware when we moved here, but the area is often referred to as the Golden Triangle as it is within easy reach of London and Bath and is a very sought after area to live in, explains Gavin.
Over the years Gavin has transformed The Rocks and upgraded the structure of the property. As Gavin works from home, it was important for him to be in a creative and light atmosphere. We began by improving the stone work, building a stone wall in the garden to increase privacy, then we rebuilt the roof, redecorated throughout and put a lot of TLC into the garden, says Gavin. His favourite room is the middle sitting room where he relaxes by the open fire in the winter and enjoys the sunshine in summer. The house is lovely and airy and when you gaze some 30 miles into the distance from the bedroom over the valleys, you become completely relaxed, he says.
The garden has three patios, one of which is a covered veranda. Surrounded by trees and plants it is a beautiful setting for barbeques, parties and summer brunches. We have a tree house with slide that is similar to a pirate ship which my daughter loves exploring and it is lovely to know that she is having fun and also safe, explains Gavin.
Nearby there are country pubs, community halls, arts clubs and the renowned country house hotel, Babington House. The area is full of life and there is so much to do and see and I believe Bath is one of the best places for state and private education: you are spoilt for choice, says Gavin. Nearby there is Freshford Church of England Primary School, Prior Park College, Royal High School Bath, Monkton Combe, and King Edwards School to name but a few, as well as the very well regarded University of Bath. Being in the catchment area for Freshford Church of England Primary School was very important to me for my daughters education, says Gavin. When you move here you are very much part of the community with lots of social events, explains Gavin.
The Rocks is a fantastic family home and we wouldnt be leaving if we hadnt decided to opt for a different lifestyle and move abroad, explains Gavin. I will miss the outstanding views and hope the next owner of The Rocks enjoys them as much as we have done, he concludes.
