Property description
This property is a delightfully spacious bungalow set back from the road on the cliff tops of Capel-le-Ferne, overlooking the English Channel and across to France. It also has a wonderful room upstairs that would make an ideal lounge and/or office where you can spend all day admiring the unbelievable sea view through the large sliding glass doors. Location is usually the key to any property and this place has it all. The large plot is surrounded on either side by swathes of open land that has been excluded from development as it is surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coast, and is important green space for its wildlife and biodiversity. At the same time it faces the sea, so provides the perfect mix of coast and country.
With its three good sized double bedrooms that include plenty of storage cupboards and a stunning bathroom, which has both a large bath and a separate shower, this property would make an excellent family home or a weekend/holiday cottage. The lounge/dining room is convenient for entertaining as it leads through to the kitchen that has been well thought out by the owners, who enjoy cooking. To preserve the clean design lines of the kitchen, all appliances are built in: two ovens (one also a microwave), full height fridge, separate freezer, dishwasher and as expected for a ‘cook’s’ kitchen, the gas hob is an extra wide 5-burner. Adjacent is a good sized utility room, where you can conveniently shed your muddy boots after a bracing walk along the cliff with the dog.
The secluded and enclosed rear garden is large enough for kids to kick a football around but, at the same time, is easy to maintain, so is a place you can also sit and relax, while the two garages and driveway at the front provide plenty of space for a number of vehicles.
What the Owner says:
"We looked along the coast from Lowestoft to Brighton to find the right location; a place looking out to sea yet within a country side setting. It had to be handy to both motorway and train links, but most importantly though, we wanted to find the house that made the most of that perfect location, one with a feeling of space around it and light within. We came across this property and immediately knew that with its multitude of large windows on all sides, absence of houses immediately adjacent, lovely big garden and sea straight out front, that our year long search had ended. We renewed and redesigned much of the internal space to transform the house into the relaxed, easy-living haven it became for us. We have loved living here but family ties now take us to New Zealand.
We enjoy walking along the cliff top path, which is literally on our doorstep. Guests like to see places such as the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel or take a trip to nearby Dover Castle, while the local Farmer’s Market provides many delights to tempt the palate. However, we love the restaurants in France and, with the Channel Tunnel so close, we can be in France for dinner in an hour from home and with the high speed train from Folkestone it is equally quick to get to London.”
