With my mother getting older we decided that we would be keen for her to live with us so that we could take good care of her. We extended the property about 12 years ago, creating a one bedroom annexe to the side. The living room with kitchenette, separate bedroom and shower room gave mum all the space that she needed to be independent whilst also having the peace of mind that her family was always close at hand.

In more recent times the annexe has worked really well for when we have family come and stay with us, the annexe living room can serve as another bedroom whilst the extra shower means that there are no long queues for the bathroom first thing in the morning!
