Property description
There is usually little opportunity to own a part of any village’s history, but the owner of this flint cottage built during the 19th century is able to do just that. During World War II, anti tank defences were set up just outside (apparently cylinders with “pookie tops”!) and the character, history and charm continues throughout the house so prepare to be amazed….
Now we are on a busy main road but once inside the first thing you’ll notice will be the warm glow of the dual fuel burner set within a charming fireplace. Your guests could enjoy an aperitif here while just beyond the dining room you cook up a storm in the rustic kitchen with its vaulted ceiling.
For a less formal atmosphere, the family room is the place to be. Open up the French doors and catch the sunrise while you take the morning paper then relax in the evening and watch it set through the opposite window.
Each bedroom offers plenty of space for your growing family, while the winding spiral staircase takes you to the main bedroom with its luxury fitted en-suite with claw foot bath, beams, slate floor…..
Now you have got some idea of the space and charm on offer all that needs to be decided now is when you’d like to view?
What the Owner says:
As soon as I walked into the cottage I was drawn in by the charming and welcoming feel. We have a great outlook at the back and the road doesn’t bother us at all either inside the house or in the garden.
I added a two bedroom extension while at the same time adding the en-suite to the main bedroom. I’ve also added a new front door and changed the windows in the kitchen.
You really feel part of the village community while not being in the hustle and bustle, and it’s easy to hop onto the A24 from here to go north or south and there are some stunning walks around such as Cissbury Ring or The Gallops.
