Normanton Golf Club, at Hatfield Hall on Aberford Road, is one of the many great golf courses in the area. Wakefield Wildcats, Featherstone Rovers and Castleford Tigers are amongst the local rugby league teams, a popular spectator sport in the area. Wakefield Theatre Royal has regular drama, musical, comedy and live music performances. In addition, there is the Xscape entertainment complex in Castleford. Westgate Run is famous for its lively nightlife.

Shopping
There is no shortage of shops in the area. Weekly groceries can be purchased from Sainsbury's on Lower Trinity Walk, Morrisons at the Ridings Centre or Continental Food Store at 125 Westgate.
