Property description
It is difficult to say when the house looks its best because each season brings with it new character, in the Spring wisteria that has covered the house for over 100 years produces the most incredible display of purple flowers and the scent is evident throughout the grounds. In the Summer when the wisteria turns green and when the sun is shining there is nothing better than to sit on the front lawn with a chilled glass of wine. The Autumn brings a whole new feel to the gardens and in the winter with the log fires burning in the main reception rooms the house looks better than any Christmas card I have ever see.
Although the character of the house can never be changed from the outside, on the inside we have installed new bathrooms and showers and the house has been adapted for complete modern living. Points of interest at the property are the priest holes and the fire grate in the main dining hall which was gifted by King Charles the second in appreciation for the family hiding him when he fled to France in the 1650's. The stable block has already been granted planning permission for a three bedroom dwelling and although lapsed would be very easy to reinstate. This is a wonderful house and a great gathering place for family and friends to entertain all year round.

When we first entered the gates of this property nothing prepared us for the vision we found at the end of the driveway, the brochure we had seen really did not do the house justice, we were completely speechless. It is simply magnificent a wonderful Jacobean Manor House completely surrounded by 2.743 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The original parts of the house date back to 1616 with further additions made in 1632 and the family that originally built the house Thomas Boys and his wife Mary were the first of many Boys residents and the house is steeped in the history of their family.
