DESCRIPTION
The property is a Grade II listed farmhouse, dating from 1615, with an abundance of original period features, providing almost 4,000 square feet of accommodation. The kitchen is a welcoming room with steps leading up to the outside courtyard. A large pantry provides ample room for cooking supplies and features four sinks originally used for cream making, there are also ceiling hooks originally used for hanging meats.Leading from the kitchen, the dual-aspect dining room has large sash windows with internal shutters to the front and leaded lights to the back. The built-in dresser is a fine example of original local carpentry, whilst the brick fireplace has been restored by the current owners in keeping with the original style of the house. Adjacent to the dining room is a large china pantry, lined with shelves and cupboards. There are flagstones throughout the ground floor, except for one room, which has oak/elm boards under fitted carpet. The back sitting room has a Victorian bay window looking out onto the courtyard with a side window overlooking the private garden. This room has a Portland stone floor. A further drawing room and a study provide further ground floor living/study space. The former dairy, which also gives access to the garden, now houses a w.c/shower room. The cellar, with an unusual vaulted brick ceiling, is beneath part of the sitting room and was originally a root cellar with sawdust filled boxes for storing fruit and vegetables through the winter.Upstairs, there are four well-proportioned bedrooms. The bedroom immediately above the dining room enjoys dual-aspect views, whilst the remaining three look out onto the village green. All of the bedrooms facing the Green have sash windows. The family bathroom is generously proportioned with a walk-in closet, fitted corner cupboard, cast iron roll-top bath, w.c. and wash basin. Of particular note upstairs is the highly unusual chapel room, complete with revealed stone walls and a Victorian pulpit. At 37 x 15 feet this impressive room has been used for a variety of purposes during the property's history, including being used as a non-conformist chapel in the 1850s. It is now a comfortable sitting room, with ample space for books, pictures and great acoustics for music.

OUTSIDE
To the outside of the property is a private garden with lawn areas, a variety of mature trees, herbaceous borders, pergolas and climbing plants. There is also a large outbuilding with a stable and barn occupying the ground floor, and a hay-loft on the first floor. The windows featured in this outbuilding are the 17th century originals. There is a garage integral to the house and space for a second car in the stable.
