A short description of the property by the owner
What We Love
Overall the house gives us a great space and a bit of room to breathe in London. We love the fact on sunny days the back of the house is lit up in sunshine, and we open the patio doors onto the decking where we can just mooch around or play together.
The garden seems like a football pitch when we are playing, and also its so quiet you can hear the birds (and sometimes one of the neighbours chickens and parrots!). We are lucky not to be directly overlooked from the back and have a great expanse of sky as an ever-changing view which is just beautiful, and so calming.
We love that upstairs all of the bedrooms are substantial and the fact we have plenty of room for storage and that our belongings don't get on top of us.
We have completely refurbished the house from when we moved in 3 years ago and we have felt so comfortable here.
We love entertaining our friends here. The garden provides ample room for a BBQ in the summer where the kids can play and the adults can enjoy a glass or two of chilled Rose. Its just perfect.
The Area
We live just two minutes the wonderful Peckham Rye park, which is fantastic for the kids but also gives us adults the chance to relax with a walk with friends, or exercise. Its popular for joggers and dog walkers.
We can stroll into East Dulwich (and occasionally swaying back after a night out in the excellent pubs and bars) or go to the fabulous Hornimans Museum (just a keep fit walk away).
Lordship Lane has a brilliant variety of boutique type shops, bars, gastropubs and its a great place to spend a few hours shopping and grabbbing a coffee.
We have a handful of local shops just 5 minutes walk away on Forest Hill Road (a good quality fish & chips restaurant, a nice french cafe, a convenient small sized co-op, a post office, a chemist, The Herne Tavern - a super pub with great food and a play area for the kids and a GP surgery).
Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill is just 5 minutes away by car.
Transport
Its about a half a mile away and a 12-16 minute walk to Honor Oak park ( and I'm loving the East London Line). You can get to London Bridge in about 10 minutes or you can jump the Overground to Canada Water where you can pick up the Underground Network on the Jubilee Line.
What We Say
Its simply a gorgeous house, retaining its character but presented in a thoruoghly modern way. If you are looking for a family home in East Dulwich, then it just must be on your shortlist.
