Property description
Set on the westerly fringes of the village, this stunning detached stone cottage was built in approximately 1678 and has been sympathetically updated to create an extremely welcoming home.
The chocolate box exterior is complemented by its light and airy interior. Particular attention has been paid by the current owners to refurbishing many original features, including exposed oak beams and feature fireplaces. A large sitting room and separate dining room provide a great sense of space and the well appointed kitchen offers plenty of storage. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a bathroom. All rooms look out onto the large, manicured gardens, with fields of wheat and maize beyond.
Most of the windows have been replaced, central heating has been added and there are two gas fires. Handmade wrought iron curtain poles in all of the rooms are just part of the attention to detail here.
The gardens are stocked with many native and exotic plants and shrubs. Scented peonies and oriental poppies give a blaze of colour in early summer, foxgloves and cowslips adorn the paddock and burnt sugar can be smelt when the frosts visit the gardens from the beautiful candy floss tree.
Less than half a mile from the station and convenient for all local amenities and having no onward chain, this property truly is a gem that should not be missed.
What the Owner says:
We moved here approximately thirty five years ago and have loved living on the edge of the South Downs National Park.
The cottage has an enormous amount of character and we have retained as many of the original features as possible. It is light and airy and all of the rooms have views of the gardens which we have spent a long time getting just how we want them.
We have no immediate neighbours and we feel very secluded, so whether it is tinkering with cars outside the garages or playing cricket at the artificial wickets, we've always enjoyed the privacy that our home offers, yet with superb far reaching views to the north and south.
