Property description

A Very Attractive Period Cottage within Landscaped Gardens near the Sought-After Village of Redmarley, Gloucestershire

Entrance Lobby – Kitchen/Breakfast Room – Large Reception Room - Three Bedrooms - Utility Room – Cloakroom – Family Bathroom - Landscaped Gardens – Large Gravelled Parking Area

THE LOCATION

This charming, attached cottage, in the style of Queen Anne, is set within recently landscaped gardens and has ample parking for several vehicles. Full of period character, the cottage is also an ideal family home in a rural setting that provides access to nearby villages and to the national motorway network, making this an ideal bolt-hole in the country for those who commute. The cottage exudes charm rather than grandeur and captures the essence of a homely and pretty country cottage.

The property is in an idyllic rural location between the villages of Redmarley d’Abitot, which has a very popular primary school and Pendock, just half a mile along the lane, with its busy village store.

The M50 motorway is just two miles away, providing links to the M5 and the Midlands to the east and south-west to Monmouth, Newport and Cardiff.
The market town of Ledbury, with a wide range of shops, amenities and a railway station, is six and a half miles north and the city of Gloucester, with more frequent rail links to London, is 11 miles to the south. Cheltenham is a mere 16 miles away.

The renowned Hartpury College, with its world-class equine courses and facilities, is seven miles away. The setting offers a rural idyll without isolation.

THE PROPERTY

A solid oak stable door opens into the entrance lobby, with travertine tiled floor, exposed beams and space for coats and boots. Off the lobby is the cloakroom, with a white suite, leading to the utility room which has space and plumbing for white goods, cupboards and a sink with drainer.

The other stripped wooden door from the lobby leads into the charming kitchen/breakfast room which has simple yet homely shaker style units, a breakfast bar and a black, oil-fired Rayburn. There is space for a standard cooker and for a tall fridge-freezer. The window overlooks the large patio to the front of the cottage.

A stripped solid wood door leads into the spacious L-shaped reception room which easily accommodates both living and dining areas. The focal point is the wood-burning stove on the slate hearth with a large oak lintel above it. Bookshelves and a log storage area have been created to the right of the fireplace. A painted, oak, double glazed window to complement the one in the kitchen and the French windows lead from this lovely room to the patio.

A bespoke oak staircase leads to the first floor where the landing window illuminates the space beautifully.

The main bedroom has the same oak flooring and arched window as the landing; there is a second window in the main bedroom to maximise the morning light. Across the landing is bedroom two, with a feature Victorian fireplace and arched window to the front looking over the lane and fields beyond.

The third bedroom, lit by a skylight, has scope to be used as a study or a dressing room, offering enormous versatility.

The bathroom, also with oak floor, has a white suite, including a roll-top bath and a separate shower enclosure.

The gated entrance leads into the gravelled parking area which accommodates several vehicles.

The large and very private patio extends from the parking area, across the front of the wisteria-clad cottage and to the fence that borders the lane, creating a highly practical and attractive area for entertaining, complete with pergola.

Beyond the patio is a large expanse of level lawn with mature silver birch trees. A garden shed is tucked away around the corner near the vegetable beds and borders; the views from this end of the garden are delightful, looking over fields and countryside.
