Area Guide For Strabane

Strabane verifiably spelt Straban, is a town in west County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It contains the central station of Strabane District Council.

Strabane has a populace of around 17,000 and is the second-biggest town in Tyrone, after Omagh. It lies on the east bank of the River Foyle and is generally equidistant from Omagh, Derry and Letterkenny. The River Foyle marks the outskirt between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. On the opposite side of the stream is the littler town of Lifford, which is the area town of County Donegal. The River Mourne courses through the core of the town, and meets the River Finn to structure the Foyle. Strabane endured tremendous financial harm in 1987 when a great part of the focal point of the town was overwhelmed.
