Richmond Castle: perched above the River Swale and the enjoyable Castle Walk; a Georgian theatre; three superb museums; plus a weekly market and monthly farmers' market. Also close by are the fascinating ruins of Easby Abbey, the historic village of Barnard Castle and the splendid Bowes Museum - an absolute must on anyone's itinerary!
