Property description
Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Kent countryside, 2 West Street is a veritable Tardis of a rural cottage. From the rose covered porch to the large extension, the property offers everything you need for country living. With its large reception hall leading to the good sized sitting room where you can imagine entertaining family and friends or alternatively a cosy evening in front of a log fire. Double doors lead from this impressive room to a fabulous dining area with vaulted ceiling, a tall cathedral style windows and superb countryside views. The well fitted kitchen adjacent to the dining area means you can prepare a delightful meal while still chatting to guests sitting round the table and for anyone working from home there is an excellent study with views across the meadow. In addition you will find a useful ‘snug’ that can either be used as a fourth bedroom or a sitting room for teenagers who would like to have their own domain. While upstairs there are three bedrooms and a lovely modern bathroom, including a dressing room in the master that could be converted to a shower room if required.
Pony mad youngsters can keep the family Shetland in the paddock, while for dog owners there is a brick kennel available in the garden and miles of country walks around the edge of the fields, literally on the doorstep.
While the cottage is out in the country it is less than a mile to the delightful village of Finglesham with its wonderful and historic pub – The Crown - and only 1.5 miles to Northbourne, which includes an ancient church and a village hall that hosts a number of community activities.
What the Owner says:
“We moved here about four years ago and absolute love the house and the area. But it is a bit large for us now so we are going to down size but still live in the vicinity. We’ve made lots of very good friends since we’ve been here and many of us meet up at the Crown on a Friday night for ‘Happy Hour’ and we will still be able to do that when we move. The area is very quiet and peaceful and, at the same time, it feels very safe and secure.
The cottage is great for entertaining and we thoroughly enjoy hosting dinner parties and having the children come to stay for weekends and holidays. We have wonderful memories of Christmas parties and Sunday lunches in the winter while, in the summer, it is great to be able to relax in the secluded garden and lap up the sunshine or sit under the shade of the mature trees.
We thoroughly enjoy taking our dogs on long walks in the adjacent countryside and being involved in some of the local events at the Northbourne village hall that include such activities as weekly auctions, dog training and dog shows. However, although we live in the country, we are very accessible to the main roads for Dover, Deal, Canterbury and the mediaeval Cinque Port town of Sandwich for the station, shopping and secondary schools”
