Situation
Ironbridge is a renowned and historic area nestling in The Severn Gorge which forms one of the most striking and distinctive landscapes in England, with a charming town centre adjoining the River Severn and the slopes of The Gorge combining a delightful mix of imposing, detached period residences mingling with charming cottages up the hillside. This remarkable area was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution and became world famous in 1779 when the world’s first iron bridge was constructed over the River Severn and from which the town derives its name.  It is steeped in the industrial heritage of the area with local museums forming part of the World Heritage Site and is now recognised as a premier tourist area.  Some five miles to the north is the excellent range of shopping and recreational facilities at Telford town centre, together with the railway station and M54.

Church Hill comprises a pleasant mix of a variety of period properties running up from the end of High Street with some having majestic views across Ironbridge and The Gorge.

The property
Forms part of an original mansion house constructed circa 1841 when Ironbridge was experiencing its first flush of prosperity encouraged by the completion of the Iron Bridge and links to the south of the river in 1779.

The family of Captain Webb, the celebrated swimmer lived here circa 1870 and then much later in time the original mansion house was used by the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust.  The property was later converted into individual properties in the 1970’s by the Telford Development Corporation. The property has many character features including exposed floorboards, high ceilings, decorative period style coving, fireplaces and period style windows.

Accommodation
An entrance door leads to the impressive entrance hallway which has exposed floorboards, staircase ascending to the first floor, useful under stairs cloaks cupboard and access to three reception rooms and kitchen.  The kitchen has an outlook towards Church Hill and the parking area; wall mounted central heating boiler, a range of base and wall units, integrated oven and hob with extractor hood over and space for additional appliances. The family room has double opening glazed panel doors, exposed floorboards and access to washroom/wc.  The two main reception rooms are situated to the south side of the property enjoying spectacular views over The Gorge towards the Iron Bridge – the formal dining room is the large of the two being over 17ft long – the lounge has a beautiful open fireplace with built-in bookcase and cupboard to one side.

On the first floor there is a landing area with built-in cupboard and access to three double bedrooms and house bathroom.  Two of the bedrooms are also situated to the south side of the property enjoying spectacular views with the master bedroom being over 17ft long and the other having a built-in wardrobe.  The house bathroom can be accessed from the landing and the second bedroom and comprises panelled bath, vanity wash hand basin and low level wc.  The third bedroom has an outlook towards Church Hill and the parking area.
