DESCRIPTION
The White House is a beautiful property, presented in a sophisticated and elegant fashion with well-proportioned accommodation arranged over two floors with further substantial attics. The house dates in part from the early 18th century, incorporating an oast roundel and adjoining brick barn, wrapped in a Georgian façade with substantial Victorian additions. This wonderful family residence includes 8 bedrooms, 5 reception rooms, a striking 36-foot kitchen/diner, together with a pantry, boot room, laundry room and utility room. The versatile accommodation also includes a self-contained, one bedroom annexe and an additional au pair suite, both accessible from the main house as well as via dedicated external front doors. The spacious grounds are a most attractive backdrop, with a heated swimming pool, summerhouse and pool house. Mature trees and landscaped gardens surround the house, with lovely lawned areas interspersed by well stocked beds and borders, all flanked with open farmland. The total area of the house and gardens is just under 1.5 acres.
ACCOMMODATION
An elegant hallway with a striking, glass-covered well, offers access to the stylish drawing room, sitting room and roundel, which is currently used as a family room. The impressive 36' kitchen/dining room occupies the barn section of the house and is also accessible from the generous reception hall. With high ceilings, bespoke cabinetry, granite worktops and a 4-oven electric Aga, this room is a fabulous entertaining space. A large pantry and boot room with external access complete the west wing of this wonderful family residence. A few steps up from the reception hall leads to the utility and laundry areas, with a cosy snug and a secondary staircase to the upper floors. The main staircase in the reception hall services the first floor with its striking double aspect master bedroom, featuring extensive fitted wardrobes and superb en suite facilities. There are 7 further bedrooms, all with generous storage cupboards, and 4 further bathrooms, as well as a fully fitted study or additional family room on the first floor. There are two generously proportioned attic rooms on the second floor, accessed by their own staircase and featuring an oxeye window in the gable. The self-contained annexe is a particular feature of this property. Accessed from either its own external front door, or via a connecting door to the main hall way, it incorporates a large sitting room, kitchen, breakfast room, bedroom and bathroom, all presented in first class condition.
OUTSIDE
The property is well set back from the road and is approached via an electrically-operated 5-bar gate. A sweeping gravelled driveway with extensive parking leads to a double garage with automatic doors. Attractive landscaped gardens with mature trees surround the house and the front garden has an ornamental pond, lawns and an attractive rockery with spring bulbs, a variety of alpines and flowering shrubs. In the rear garden, there is a large, south-facing, heated swimming pool with an electric cover, surrounded by a paved terrace, perfect for socialising and relaxing, as well as a summer house and a separate pool house. To the rear of the property is an extensive paved terrace with brick barbeque area and steps to the lawn interspersed by well-stocked beds and borders, a weeping willow and mature ash, beech and oak trees.
