Historic and handsome, the impressive residence Clyndwerwen House, close to Narberth Pembrokeshire, is a gracious home with an important past.
Once the main house of the Clynderwen estate that extended to more than 1600 acres, the seven bedroom home has been owned by several important families including the Griffith and Gower families, the latter having bought the estate around 1825.
Clyndwerwen House was built on an early site and was referred to in 1634 as a baronial hall. The Gower\‘s rebuilt around 1864 (a date carved on a roof beam identified this year) using local Llanfallteg bricks as well as the stone Quoins. It is believed that at this time the HA HA to the north and east side of the house was also created. The local village and railway station was named after this significant residence in 1875.
The estate is located a few minutes drive from Clynderwen in the county of Pembrokeshire and is known as a friendly village which provides many amenities, has several shops and a pharmacy. The village is on the A478 Tenby to Cardigan road and developed after the advent of the railway in 1854. The Great Western Railway (West Wales Line) to London from the ports of Milford Haven and Fishguard passes through the village at Clynderwen railway station.
Nearby (5miles) is the trendy and popular town of Narberth, a gorgeous little market town where pretty coloured Edwardian and Georgian buildings line the high street which has developed quite a reputation as shopper\‘s heaven. Independent shops selling a whole range of exquisite items from fine art to fine food rub shoulders with the vintage and antique shops. There are award winning café\‘s pubs and restaurants, as well as good grocery shops and pharmacies, optometrists, dentists and a doctor\‘s surgery.
Good road connections take you to the famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with miles of idyllic beaches and coastal paths and the rugged Preseli mountains to the north with breath taking views. The A40 M4 link road at Carmarthen provides quick access to Swansea (about 46m) and Cardiff (about 86m) and beyond.
