Property description

Collon Barton lies about ½ mile north of the desirable village of Lerryn and due south of the Boconnoc Estate. The ancient Stannary town of Lostwithiel is close by, as is the historic port of Fowey, one of the principal sailing centres of the South West. The property is within easy reach of the A30 at Bodmin. Lerryn is one of the most picturesque waterside villages in Cornwall resting amidst unspoilt countryside and standing at the head of a tidal creek on the upper reaches of the Fowey estuary. This popular village provides a range of everyday facilities including the 16th century Ship Inn, a post office/general stores, village hall and primary school. It has a slipway, some moorings and is about 20 minutes by boat to the open sea at Fowey. Most of the surrounding countryside is designated as an AONB. Lostwithiel is an old market town within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty astride the River Fowey and retaining a number of fine old buildings including the Old Palace of Lostwithiel. The centre of the town has been designated a Conservation Area and has an interesting array of shops together with pubs, restaurants, banks, a health centre and a weekly farmers market. The pretty harbour town of Fowey, 6 miles to the south and at the mouth of the estuary, is one of Cornwall's most historical and unspoilt sea port towns. Fowey is renowned for its safe deep water anchorage and sailing. Both the Royal Fowey Yacht Cluband Golant Sailing Club overlook the harbour estuary. There are local mainline rail stations at Lostwithiel (3½ miles), Bodmin Parkway (8 miles) and St Austell (12 miles). The south coast ports of Polperro and Looe are about 10 miles to the east and the old market town of Liskeard is about 11 miles to the north east. Bodmin provides the mainline railway links to LondonPaddington about 4 hours. Newquay Airport (23 miles) offers daily flights to London Gatwick in about 70 minutes and a growing number of cities across the UK. Recent and ongoingimprovements to the main A30 trunk road now provide fast access to the M5 motorway network and airport at Exeter.
