Property description
AGENTS COMMENTS Set within stunning, secluded grounds approaching seven acres, is this charming, characterful farmhouse which in parts dates back to the early 1700's. If after a busy, stressful day at work you look forward to coming home to a peaceful, private setting where your only neighbours are mother nature, then look no further. Those of you with dogs have to see this as living here will give you the happiest hounds on the Island, whilst young children will love exploring the grounds and playing hide and seek amongst the trees. You can even fish in one of the two lakes! You can teach the children and grandchildren to swim in your indoor pool that provides a wonderful place to have fun In the sun (during the summer months). Internally, the accommodation comprises six bedrooms, five bathrooms, cloakroom, kitchen/breakfast room, utility room, walk in larder and storage cupboard to go along with the four reception rooms. The beautiful gardens are a wonderful place to enjoy and will be loved by all of the family, including the pets who will love playing chase with the local wildlife. Locations do not come much better than this if privacy and space are high on your list of requirements, and the current owners have been lucky enough to enjoy the tranquillity, the scenery and self sufficiency that you will benefit from while living here. The house also comes with free water. There is plenty of parking to be found at the end of the lengthy private driveway also. A stunning, charming home that exudes beauty from days of yonder with the added bonus of modern additions throughout in a setting that has to be seen to be appreciated.
OWNERS COMMENTS We knew when we walked into the farmhouse over twenty years ago that this was to be our home and it has been that and so much more. With great sadness we now feel it is time to downsize and move closer to our ever extending family. We have enjoyed relaxing in the gardens, growing our own vegetables, and collecting nuts and apples from our own woodland. The grandchildren enjoy feeding the fish in the carp pond and building forts in the field. The gardens are a haven for wildlife including several families of red squirrels, visiting wildfowl and we have now seen the return of the Goldcrest. It is such a secluded and peaceful place with wonderful night skies enhanced by the nightingale's song and the song of the distant stream. There will be many unforgettable memories to take with us from the many walks with family and dogs over the downs or along the River Yar, to the grandchildren learning to swim in the indoor swimming pool and my eldest daughters wedding-the barn made a great venue! The barn has provided a large workshop with more than enough space to work on our vintage vehicles and ever growing number of antique 'restoration projects'. The Granary building has been an invaluable additional space which in the past has been used as offices. We hope that the next owners have as many happy years in this much loved family home as we have had.
