It states that some building materials are thought to have come from Newgate Prison and the former Old Bailey as well as noting that the interior has been remarkably unaltered. It particularly notes the stone fireplace with Duck Nest grate in the sitting room, the inglenook with seats and window in the original Hall (currently used as the Drawing Room), the window seats, the elaborate and ornamental hinges and pattern of studs on the doors, the main staircase and the oak floorboards. Commentators credit Baillie-Scott with making dwellings into perfect little works of art with endless attention to the smallest detail, even designing intricate door and window latches and fireplace surrounds. He designed his houses from the inside out, with the space flowing from room to room in an unconventional manner.
