DIRECTIONS
From Totnes take the A381 Western Bypass towards Kingsbridge and on leaving Harbertonford take the next turning left to Washbourne and Cornworthy. Follow this road along, through Washbourne and when you reach the junction at the end of the road, take right for Cornworthy. Stay on this road and follow it all the way down into the village. As you start to proceed up the other side, Hall House will be found on the right hand side just after the Hunters Lodge (currently closed).

SITUATION
Cornworthy is of Saxon origins and is recorded in the Doomsday book. There is an Augustinian Priory built 1230 and run by Augustinian nuns until the dissolution in 1537. The chuch was of Norman origins and has the existing Norman Font. Present church was built in 1350. Today there are working farms, variety of local businesses and enterprises. Of note there is minimal traffic through the village as there is a road going around the village. The village also enjoys dark nights as there is no light pollution due to no street lighting, so a real joy for star gazers.Cornworthy is a real hidden gem. It has a thriving community and is a working village surrounded by farms and fields. It is very close to the River Dart and a tributary of the Dart, Bow Creek. Part of the village is classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village appeals to those of all ages, families with children, single people, retired and the elderly. There is a church, a village hall, pub and a Saturday shop.
