Property description

This very attractive contemporary house has all the advantages of living within walking distance of Canterbury city centre but when you look across the neighbouring gardens and parkland you get the

impression you are in the countryside. From its origins as a standard 1960s three-bedroom house, this fascinating property has been completely transformed by the owner into a stunning and spacious five/six bedroom family home. As you go through the front door and look straight through the open-plan dining area to the lounge area and the decked terrace beyond, you can appreciate the real ‘wow’ factor this place engenders. This is enhanced by the high-quality furnishings

including oak doors and beautiful tiled floors as well as the veritable wall of bi-folding doors to the garden.

Most of the ground floor is open-plan and designed for entertaining. You can create a sumptuous meal in the trendy kitchen area with its built in double oven, hob and integrated appliances including a fridge/

freezer, eat with friends in the dining area or relax in the lower lounge area, looking out at the attractive country-style garden. This includes some mature trees and shrubs and a few nooks and crannies where the

children can play hide and seek. There is also an intriguing study with a Jack and Jill shower room on the ground floor where the cupboards and part of the room are literally underneath the mezzanine. This charming

room also has doors to a private patio.

Upstairs, two of the bedrooms have high ceilings and modern Juliette balconies with stunning views across the garden and the nearby grounds, including the master with its en suite shower room. There are

three further bedrooms on this floor together with a modern family bathroom and at the front of the property there is off-road parking for up to three cars – a real bonus so close to the city centre.

What the Owner says:

It has been a real delight renovating and extending this property over the last few years, however, I feel it is time for me to consider taking on a new project and let another family enjoy this house as much as I have. I have always thought the location was ideal as Canterbury is such a wonderful city but I still take pleasure in the peaceful feeling the house exudes. I love
entertaining so the house has been designed with that in mind and I really find it relaxing watching the superb view from all of the rooms at the back of the house. One of my favourite places in this house is the lounge when
the bi-fold doors are open; the garden becomes part of the living space and the scenery is so beautiful and peaceful.
It is only a short walk to the cathedral or the Whitefriars shopping centre and you can have a meal at a nearby pub or favourite restaurant and
not worry about taking the car. There is so much to do in the city with two theatres, a plethora of restaurants, historic buildings and a variety of shops as well as the Kent Cricket ground. In the other direction it is only a couple of minutes’ drive to the Canterbury Golf Club and the Polo Farm sports ground if you want to indulge in tennis, hockey and cricket.
However, if relaxing is more your thing, then it is only a short drive to Whitstable where you can take advantage of the beach and entertaining coastline.
