ADDITIONAL HISTORICAL INFORMATION A Victorian mansion house constructed principally of red brick and completed in 1861 on land purchased from the Duke of Devonshire's Buxton Estate. The supervising architect was Henry Currey, the London architect to the Devonshire Estates, who designed many notable buildings in Buxton including the Palace Hotel and Christ Church, Burbage. Burbage House was built by the well known firm of Robert Ripon Duke, the initials RRD are carved into two attic roof beams. Burbage House in its entirety was owned by two families between 1860-1932. The mansion house was officially divided vertically into 3 freehold dwellings in about 1950.
