Property description

Everywhere you look in this Edwardian Arts and Crafts style house and garden there are period features or modern additions to admire. Whether it’s the beamed ceilings, wooden picture rails, parquet floors and antique doors creating the wonderful character or the gorgeous country-style kitchen with its range cooker and vast dining area, magnificent conservatory and recently constructed double garage – large enough to house a couple of Bentleys – providing all the benefits of 21st-century living.

Once across the threshold, your first introduction is the wonderfully welcoming reception hall with its real fire and original tiles. However, you will be awestruck by the lounge that is doubled in size by the spacious conservatory providing a delightful all-year-round ambience with magnificent views across the landscaped garden at one end and a roaring fire to sit round at the other. If you want to relax with a book or watch TV there is a beamed sitting room with built-in settles around the fireplace and you can be inspired by the views when working in the study. For wine buffs there is a very useful ambient temperature ‘cellar’.

There is a modern bathroom with a stand-alone bath and large separate shower and most of the six bedrooms incorporate washing facilities and fireplaces. The elegant master includes an en suite bathroom, fitted wardrobes and a delightful balcony where you can sit and enjoy the sea views.

The garden is equally impressive with pleasure and leisure in mind. You can follow the sun all day on one of the three terraces or the raised decked area. At the same time you can gaze at the charming ponds and rockery, the interesting plantings and an antique gazebo – all surrounded by an impressive brick and flint wall, ensuring your privacy.

What the Owner says:

We moved here about 10 years ago and fell in love with the house the moment we walked into the hall. However, although we will miss our wonderful home we feel it is now time to downsize. Over the years we have lovingly updated and extended the property by building the external wall, the new garage and conservatory as well as putting in a modern kitchen, utility room and bathrooms. It is a great house for entertaining and we have had up to 14 people round our table for dinners and family celebrations.
We also obtained planning permission to build a second storey over the garage that would provide additional bedrooms and bathrooms, so if anyone needed extra accommodation this could be created. In addition, there is an external sitting room/playroom adjacent to a storage room and the old garage. With appropriate planning permission this could be converted into a separate annex for elderly relatives or adult children.
Our family love to visit as we are only a stone’s throw from the clifftops and near the beach at Louisa Bay. Broadstairs is a delightful place to live with its beaches, pubs, restaurants and individual shops. There is always something going on such as Folk Week, the Dickens Festival or the Food Fair. There are also excellent private and state schools and very good road and rail links.
