Property description

You’ll never get bored of this incredibly special home on St Saviour’s Road. There are four floors to this majestic property and within you’ll find elegant styling and some lovely original features. These houses are rarely on the market and this example offers mammoth living areas including five bedrooms, two/three reception rooms, two bathrooms and a huge cellar, the living space is truly unbeatable. Everything about this house is grand and imposing - check out the multi-storey bay window and sun-worshipping conservatory. The area is as impressive as the interior. You're within a leisurely stroll of every conceivable amenity. Clapham and Brixton are both easily reached on foot for an ocean of brilliant bars and world class eateries. Brockwell Park will help you work off the inevitable calories and transport is taken care of with the Victoria line in Brixton.

To the front is a low maintenance garden, fringed by a low level wall and wrought iron gate. Head up a slate step and in through the jet black front door. Working from the ground floor of the house, find an unbelievably wide entrance hall with an original staircase and light pouring in through frosted glass panes in the front door. The reception is dramatically grand with a proud front aspect bay window, recrafted cornicing, fireplace and mantel. A wide open arch with integrated surrounding bookshelves leads to the rear reception where you are stopped in your tracks by a stunning conservatory, accessed through a stained glass door (when the light catches vibrant red and blue hues are magical). Light-lovers will rejoice in the conservatory - it stretches the same width as the reception and has an entire glass ceiling and double bifolding doors frame the garden beautifully. It even sports a beautifully curling vine! Head back in the reception where a wide arch and steps lead down to an impressive kitchen (also accessed from the conservatory) with a tiled floor and a vaulted skylight overhead. Wooden units crowned by black granite work tops run on two sides of the space. A five ring gas range is a cook's dream and hoarders will love the cellar, accessed from here, which is tanked and tiled, with plumbing for your washing machine/dryer and ready to store your unsightliness.

Carpeted stairs lead up to a beautiful main bathroom on the rear return. Midnight blue walls are the main focal point, working with a period fireplace and white tiling to add a touch of class. There is a roll top tub, period style suite and a walk-in shower. Towels and linen will tuck away nicely in the recessed storage cupboard on the landing. Head to the first floor where you'll find the master bedroom fronting the street with glorious bay window, coving, spot-lights (featured throughout), feature mantel and a run of fitted wardrobes. The second bedroom sits next door and is smaller in size, also facing front with a feature mantel. Peeking over the garden is another sunny double bedroom with two sash windows and fitted storage space. There's more! Another climb up reveals more recessed storage on the second return and a second bathroom with a white suite and rain-effect showerhead. Two huge double bedrooms complete the tour inside - both are bright, sunny rooms with storage space. The front facing bedroom stretches 21ft wide and has a fab vaulted ceiling and eaves storage.

A decent chunk of garden is priceless and this one is no exception. It’s very peaceful and quiet, which is surprising due to the close proximity to the hub of Brixton. There are lower and raised paved patio (al fresco dining ahoy!), a large lawn for the kids/dog, huge horse chestnut tree, apple tree and it's completely private to the rear. To side return runs the length of the house and is a great place to store garden furniture, bikes and gardening tools.

The 137 is just around the corner and will whisk you to Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. Clapham North tube is about 12 minute walk for the Northern line or you've got the Victoria line in Brixton. You're within a pleasant amble of Abbeville Village for a slightly more laid back village vibe. Acre Lane has some handy shops and a fab Algerian restaurant, Khamsa - we recommend it highly! The Grand Union does ace cocktails and burgers (we've been known to frequent their super cool beet garden). Brixton's all a buzz of late - it's a proper social hub. The Ritzy cinema overlooks the recently re-developed Windrush Square offering a marvellous place to sit, chat and drink coffee. This is before we mention the ocean of funky bars, cafés and restaurants on offer - we love Fujiyama for some noodles and vino. Brixton's covered market supplies a seemingly endless list of world cuisine - you can dine on everything from Columbian to Vietnamese. Honest Burger is to die for - those rosemary chips are having a disastrous effect on the waistbands of Brixtonites! The White Horse really rocks out on the weekend and you've got a fab restaurant attached the Brockwell Lido. Keeping fit is no problem with Brockwell Park and Clapham Common. Sudbourne and Corpus Christi Primary Schools are a matter of seconds for a super easy morning commute. Both are highly considered.
