Property description

High on a hill overlooking the National Trust forest leading to the South Foreland lighthouse in St Margaret at Cliffe is the delightful this property. This modern property has been beautifully maintained by the owners, from the rosewood floors to the immaculate kitchen that was installed some two years ago, this house offers everything you need for 21st century living. Whether you want a full time home, a classy holiday retreat or a place that can also house elderly relatives or adult children or even provide an additional income, this property offers something for everyone.

Friends and family will be queuing up to stay in the upstairs guest suite with its balcony where they can sit over breakfast looking across the trees to the sea. There are two further double bedrooms, a family bathroom and the stunning master suite and integral bathroom as well as a useful study. The house is designed for entertaining with its spacious hall leading through double glazed doors to the vast drawing room where you can accommodate any number of guests, while the dining room and raised terrace are ideal for supper parties and al fresco dining. You will be able to cook delicious meals in the modern kitchen with its range of integrated appliances and offer excellent wines you have stored in the temperature controlled wine cellar on the lower ground floor, adjacent to the double garage and workshop.

As is that was not all, there is also a beautiful self-contained annexe with its own courtyard. It includes a charming kitchen/sitting room, bedroom and bathroom with two sets of double doors onto the lower terrace. It would be ideal as a holiday let or for relatives.

What the Owner says:

“We bought this house when it was new and have thoroughly enjoyed living here for the past ten years. We have made sure the garden was very easy to maintain so we could relax in the sunshine. However, we love the space the house provides so we can entertain friends and family on a regular basis. We are very fond of the village with its shops, pubs and restaurants and have decided to build a new house in St Margaret’s but more suited to our future needs.
It is delightful being able to walk or cycle into Dover, Kingsdown or Deal or along to The Saxon Trail and we can wander down to the Coastguard pub on the beach for a drink or a meal. It is here where Noel Coward had a house (White Cliffs Cottage) and Ian Fleming was a regular visitor. In fact the ‘007’ for James Bond was apparently based on the number 007 National Express bus to Canterbury.
The area is so quiet and peaceful. There is only a pathway up to the famous South Foreland lighthouse – the first lighthouse in the world to have electric light. The trees are a delight throughout the year and we take great pleasure in sitting on the terrace watching the changing colours as the year progresses.”
