Property description
Set within the heart of a picturesque rural setting which is on the doorstep of the Islands' capital is a fantastic and often rare combination, more so with the addition of the paddock and stabling.
The property has been extended a number of years previously and currently accommodates two families living together, each having their own living space; kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms but links together very well indeed when needed.
It could carry on in the same way or be combined together simply as one large family home but the choices are there for you or even provide the opportunity to allow for a holiday home income as well as a family residence.
The generous grounds sit fairly equally to both sides of the main home and have stabling and extensive workshops within them. The current owners have previously had horses so this illustrates the size of the gardens and the potential for that to be accommodated once more remain.
The setting and the neighbouring landscape is at times breathtaking and is a true illustration of the benefits of living 'The Good Life' and potentially providing for some of your needs from your own land.
The Island offers some breathtaking coastline and countryside and this beautiful rural location is right up there with the very best of them and whoever moves here is going to be spoilt by that.
What the Owner says:
We will be extremely sad to leave our wonderful family home where we have lived for 60 years. Over this time this property and Gatcombe have become home to three generations of our family (ourselves, our son and his wife and our granddaughter).
The home itself has provided us all with comfortable accommodation and allowed us to lead what we believe to be a privileged lifestyle. Living is an unspoilt setting surrounded by hillsides, country walks and numerous bridleways; we have enjoyed all of these through the years with our horses and dogs.
We have also, however, had the benefit of being a short drive from the capital town of the Island, Newport with its many high street shops, supermarkets and coffee shops etc.
To sum up, we believe that this property and Gatcombe’s beautiful surroundings offer a wide variety of attributes which any prospective purchaser would welcome and enjoy.
