Property description
It is said that location is the key to any property and this is definitely the case with houses along the Royal Esplanade. Set well back from the road, with an attractive front garden and driveway, this delightful 1930s family home ‘ticks all the boxes’ as it is opposite the tennis courts and just across the road from the beach with uninterrupted sea views. The house has a special appeal from the moment you walk through the garden gate or along the driveway and, once inside, the character of the property really comes to the fore. It includes many original features such as the pine doors and staircase, picture rails and ceiling roses giving it a truly family-friendly feel. The well-proportioned kitchen/breakfast room has built-in appliances and French doors to the large raised patio, providing a great spot for the family. You will never want to stop looking at the views from the light, airy and elegant lounge incorporating a beautiful fireplace and six windows and, if you enjoy entertaining, the attractive dining room with doors to the terrace and a hatch to the kitchen is just the place for a supper party.
There is a very useful shower room on the ground floor – ideal for washing the dogs after a walk, or children, back from a day on the beach! Upstairs, you will find a large bathroom as well as five double bedrooms providing plenty of room for a growing family. The master is the same size as the lounge with even more spectacular views. In the summer if you are not on the beach, you are likely to spend time on the decked terrace with steps down to the easy-to-maintain garden, watching the children playing or inviting friends round for a barbecue.
What the Owner says:
“They thoroughly enjoyed growing up here as we have a wonderful community, great schools, plenty of activities and the beach, however, they have all left home now so we feel it is time to downsize. The house has been a delight and we have enjoyed upgrading our home over the years. Since we have been here we have had some wonderful parties as the whole house lends itself to entertaining. We love being able to spend days on the sandy beaches at St. Mildred’s Bay and Westbrook Bay. The area has hardly changed in more than 50 years and the beaches, with their beach huts, are still a magnet for families.
It is an ideal spot for a bit of exercise as you can cycle along the 35-mile stretch of coastal promenade or walk the dogs on the greens opposite the house. Westgate is within walking distance and offers a unique parade of individual shops as well as Indian and Chinese restaurants. There is a main-line station, a local cinema as well as a bowls and tennis club while the Westgate and Birchington golf club is not far away.”
