Property description

This property is a detached Edwardian house that has been lovingly restored during the past 18 months. This attractive double-fronted family home has been sensitively refurbished from top to bottom to provide a virtually brand new interior, suitable for modern living. At the same time it has retained a variety of period features such as high ceilings, coving and ceiling roses, picture rails and cast iron fireplaces – giving it plenty of character and charm.

This is an ideal home for a growing family as it includes five good-sized bedrooms. It is on an unadopted cul-de-sac so is very safe for children and pets and is within walking distance of the town centre, bus route, the main-line station and the seafront.

There are three well-proportioned reception rooms providing flexible accommodation. Whether you want an elegant drawing room and formal dining room – looking through lovely bay windows to the front garden and a family room with French doors to the rear patio or an office, breakfast room and lounge, you can arrange these rooms to suit your needs. The equally well-proportioned kitchen/breakfast room includes an eye-level oven, gas hob and other integrated appliances to make cooking easy and an adjacent utility room keeps the laundry out of sight.

The first floor includes three double bedrooms, the family bathroom and a dressing room that could be converted to an en-suite bathroom, while the top floor consists of two large rooms that would make an ideal suite for older children looking for a bit of independence. Outside, the secluded garden has been created so it is easy to maintain. The terrace allows you to enjoy al fresco dining and summer barbecues, while the flat lawn is ideal for kids to run around

What the Owner says:

“We have thoroughly enjoyed taking on the project of renovating this exceptional property but, unfortunately, health issues mean we need to move to a bungalow. So we really hope the new owners will enjoy the results of our efforts to return this house to its former glory – but with the inclusion of all mod cons. We have tried to create a family-friendly home that is very spacious but easy to run. Had we been staying here we would probably have created an en suite bathroom and possibly a garage down the side of the house as there is room to put in a driveway at the front, but have decided to leave those decisions to the next incumbents.
The area is delightful and is so quiet and peaceful but it doesn’t take very long to walk into town or to the beach and, because it is virtually flat, the walk is very easy. Herne Bay is a lovely town with lots of individual shops, restaurants and pubs leading down to the beach. We have a memorial park with a kids’ playground as well as the bandstand, a cinema and a little theatre – not to mention two miles of seafront. There are also regular markets and boot fairs throughout the year and we also have excellent transport links for road, rail and buses to Thanet, Canterbury and London.”
