Property description

This delightful grade II listed property is imbued with an historical character rarely found in today’s world. Dating from the late 17th century, it has been sympathetically extended over the years and has been updated to provide all the facilities needed for today’s modern day living, without losing its original charm. E, Nesbit, author of ‘The Railway Children’, lived here from 1904 to 1911, so maybe this home will inspire you to write a famous novel!

From the moment you walk into this five bedroom detached family home you are enveloped by its warm and friendly feeling, which is helped by its beams and beautiful Inglenook fireplace. Nevertheless it still provides spacious accommodation, including a well-proportioned country style kitchen. You can just imagine what it would be like to live here, putting the Sunday roast in the oven and then going for a long walk along Dymchurch’s sandy beach, before returning to the smell of Sunday dinner cooking away. The perfect place to enjoy this feast will be the panelled dining room, big enough to take a large dining room table and chairs, giving you enough space to cater for those family gatherings. After lunch, why not relax in the lounge where you can put a few logs on the burner and watch your favourite movies.

The secluded sunny gardens have been designed with low maintenance in mind, giving you more time to enjoy the delights of the surrounding area.

What the Owner says:

We will never forget the day when we first viewed this home. It was a cold Sunday afternoon and when we saw the beautiful Inglenook fireplace in the lounge we knew we had to buy it.

Whilst we were updating, our builder found an Inglenook fireplace behind panelling in the dining room. We didn’t need an additional fireplace so we have left it covered up; however the potential is there for a second fireplace.

We used to run a bed and breakfast from here, and with the history of this home it proved to be very popular. We are only selling because we now need a bungalow and we are going to miss the character of this home very much.
