Property description

This twin-gabled detached house built along the tree-lined Beech Avenue in Chartham is full of delightful surprises from the moment you turn into the driveway.

Built some 16 years ago, this modern house has plenty of attractive features from the leaded light windows to the charming porch. Walking through the welcoming front door you will find an elegant dining room on one side where you can happily sit ten people around a table for a meal, and a stunning Neville Johnson designed office on the other. For anyone working from home this is a real bonus and, being near the door, it provides easy access for business visitors.

The dramatic drawing room with its modern raised fireplace and cinema-style entertainment centre is just the place to spend an evening at home with family and friends, while the kitchen/family room has to be the star of the show when it comes to fascinating design, coupled with practicality. Sitting at the circular cracked-glass breakfast bar you can admire the superb bespoke kitchen units and the virtually heart-shaped island incorporating an induction hob and a built-in microwave. There is also an integrated double oven, a wine cooler, water softener and the adjacent fitted utility room.

To add to the delight of this fabulous family space there is also a comfortable seating area, double doors to the conservatory and bi-folding doors to the terrace and the easily maintained secluded garden.

Upstairs, there is a large family bathroom and five double bedrooms including the master with en suite facilities and plenty of storage cupboards.

Outside, the block-paved frontage and the detached double garage provide ample space for parking numerous vehicles.

What the Owner says:

We originally bought this house off-plan some 16 years ago and have loved every minute of living here. Over recent times, we have enjoyed refurbishing the place including creating the new kitchen/family room where we all tend to congregate.

What drew us to this property originally were the tranquil surroundings and the uniqueness of the house and driveway access. We fell in love with what we felt was a perfect position for a family home.

The village is a friendly thriving community with varying activities taking place in the village hall and there are many families living nearby who get together on occasions. We have a great pub nearby actually called ‘The Local’ as well as The Artichoke pub and restaurant and a village shop and post office. You can walk to Chartham station and be in London in under an hour and a half or drive to Canterbury West station and arrive in St. Pancras in 50 minutes.

There are regular bus services to Canterbury and Ashford and a good local primary school as well as lovely walks nearby.
