Property description
The impact of this beautiful art deco property, as you turn into the entrance, is breath-taking. Flanked by gate posts with lions rampant, the green roof and white exterior of the house immediately transport you to the elegance and chic of a bygone era. Once across the threshold this feeling continues as you wander through the spacious entrance hall with its curved door to the modern kitchen/breakfast room with its picture window overlooking large conservatory/playroom. From here you can enjoy a view across the large, secluded and easy-to-maintain rear garden or watch your children playing safely in the conservatory. Whether you are looking for a substantial and delightfully appointed family home or you want somewhere to entertain your friends, this property has it all. There is a large family room where everyone can watch TV or sit around the marble-style fireplace for a chat. This can open up to the stunning games room with its full-size snooker table and an excellent bar and is adjacent to the vast drawing room with its art deco- style fireplace, wall of windows and French doors to the garden. All these rooms can flow through to each other so you could hold a party for any number of guests and it would still not look crowded. Added to this there is also an attractive dining room for more formal occasions. The large window on the stairs provides plenty of natural light for the hall and the large landing. This leads to the family bathroom and five bedrooms including the master, with its stunning art-deco style bathroom and large balcony above the snooker room. Many of these rooms have lovely views across the adjacent park with its rugby club and tennis courts.
What the Owner says:
The house has been a wonderful family home for the past 20 years but, now the children are ‘flying the nest’, we are moving to somewhere a little smaller. During the time we have lived here we have enjoyed throwing plenty of parties and even had our wedding here. We put two large marquees in the garden and there was still plenty of room. Being down a long drive, away from the road, it is so quiet and peaceful that we can sit in the garden and listen to the parakeets, relax in the sunshine or enjoy a barbecue. You can follow the sun all day as the gardens are very private and south-facing, while the double garage and large gravelled driveway provide plenty of space for a number of vehicles. There are also a couple of brick buildings that we use for storage but they could be converted to additional rooms as they have plumbing and electricity. It is an ideal spot for families as it is easy for children to walk to the local schools and you always can join the rugby and tennis club next door. We are not far either from Viking and Stone Bay for a day on the beach.
