Property description
We love this incredibly large and luxurious four bedroom house in the desirable SW2 postcode. It's Victorian in nature and you can instantly spot the wow factor features from both outside and in. We are fans of the traditional double reception room, original coving and solid wood floors. The location is equally desirable, making this home a fantastic purchase for growing families, commuters and lovers of London! Branksome Road is a well-loved residential street in Brixton. It's one-way so has little passing traffic and neighbouring Hayter Road is also closed off every Tuesday from 3:30pm-6pm so local children can play safely.
Whilst on the approach to this superb Victorian house you instantly know what you’re buying into – the exterior has been totally restored with the original London yellow brick work making this house stand out from the rest. Upon closer inspection there is newly laid mosaic tiling that leads you to the fantastic front door and CCTV to both front and rear. Once inside you are presented with a long and comforting hallway that has access to all of the rooms on the ground floor. A small schoolhouse radiator sits to your right and compliments the stunning wood flooring and the trendy carpet that runs up the staircase. To the left of you is an incredibly spacious double reception room filled with great features you would expect from a period property such as two gorgeous feature fireplaces with marble hearths, more of the wooden flooring stylishly mixed with cream carpeting and last but not least a bay window. There is also access to the private garden via a door to the rear. Back out through the hallway and passing the stairs you will enter the kitchen. It’s bright and airy and with plenty of light. You also feast your eyes on the wooden flooring, tiled splash backs, five ring gas hob with matching extractor fan and oven, sink with stainless steel chrome mixer taps and plenty of storage in the form of upper and lower cupboards with white finished doors covered by wooden countertops. It's also worth noting the kitchen can be extended and the current owners have plans drawn up too! A utility room is further on and there is space for a washing machine as well as housing a sink too. The last room on this floor is a nifty shower room. Complete with tiled floor and shower area, there is also a rear aspect window, wash hand basin and extractor fan. The garden is easily accessed through the kitchen and has great potential with a paved pathway and a vast array of creative options to get stuck into.
Moving back inside and escalating up the stairs to the first floor you are met with a landing that is carpeted and illuminated with recessed spotlights. Looking to your right you have a pair of ultra-modern blue LED lights that lead you up the step up to the bathroom. Initially spying a WC, venturing further inwards you are met with the ultimate in bathroom luxury - a Jacuzzi bath with full controls, his and her’s wash hand basins as well as the incredibly modern and super sophisticated shower and steam room! Illuminated with blue LED's this shower suite also plays the radio, can connect your mp3 player and iPod and even connects up with the house phone or mobile so you never miss a call – very 007! Back out to the hallway and you reach the first of the four bedrooms. It’s flooded with light and helped along with a bright colour scheme. You can easily fit a double bed and storage options and still have room to spare. The front of this floor holds the second bedroom and has a feature fireplace, two front aspect windows and original coving that runs throughout the entirety of the house. Escalating again to the second floor you will find the remaining two bedrooms with wooden and carpeted floors.
You just can't lose with this location. Although quiet, mature and residential it leaves you within a stone’s throw of Clapham, Abbeville Village and Brixton. The 137 is just around the corner and will whisk you to Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. Clapham North tube is about 10 minute walk for the Northern Line or you've got the Victoria Line in Brixton. Clapham and the ever popular Abbeville Village are but a 10 minute stroll from your front door. Clapham High Street will keep you busy whatever the weather - it'll take you the first three years to sample all their cuisine (Carmen tapas is our fave!), also Khamsa is within a few minutes away for some fab Algerian cooking (it's getting great reviews) and you can walk it off on Clapham Common. In the other direction, Brixton's all a buzz with the newly developed Windrush Square offering a marvellous place to sit, chat and drink coffee. This is before we mention the ocean of funky bars, cafes and restaurants on offer - we love 'The Hive' for luscious lunchtime treats and 'Yamamouri' for some noodles and vino. The Ritzy cinema will keep any audience happy with its thoughtful mix of art house and mainstream titles and 'The White Horse' really rocks out on the weekend - check out their chicken, bacon, avocado and camembert burger!
