Property description

You simply can't ask for much more. This elegant Victorian semi has been expertly cared for and loved with a fair hand. The interior is breath-taking - there's a brilliant use of glass, dark stained wooden flooring and some of the most imposing fireplaces we've ever laid eyes on. The conservatory is a thing of beauty, while the top floor conversion adds another bedroom plus en suite shower room for space-lovers. You're within easy walking of so much here - Clapham, Brixton and Abbeville Village are all walkable as is Clapham Common and the marvellous rolling hills of Brockwell Park. The Victoria Line at Brixton and Northern Line at Clapham North make the commute as easy as the lifestyle.

The exterior grabs your attention - although not as tall as it's neighbours, this example is much more delicate and has a grand portico entrance with original tiling to detail. A wide front door with stained glass leads you into the entrance hall. It's a rather grand theme, sporting those rich wooden floors which contrast brilliantly with the crisp white walls. Next door is a through-lounge, with a front facing square bay window, encased by an attractive arch. Both rooms has incredibly tall, ebony painted fireplaces. The rear section has French doors leading directly onto the garden.

Along the hall, passing cupboard space and entry to the cellar you'll find a cloakroom plus utility room on your right. Both have hand basins and side aspect windows. At the rear of the ground floor is a fantastic kitchen, stretching 25ft long. It is fitted with glossy white units and has a central island for extra chopping space. Your eyes are drawn to the conservatory area at the back - this can also be used as a dining room or third reception. There are overhead Velux windows and bifolding doors leading onto the garden. It makes a great entertaining space when you have friends over.

Upstairs you'll find the master bedroom at the front of the house, with a similar decor and Victorian fireplace. This room also shares the bay window for extra space and light. A second double bedrooms sits behind with a fitted cupboard, fireplace and rear facing sash window. Head toward the back of the house to find a swanky, contemporary bathroom with extra-deep side feeding tub, separate walk-in shower and two bright windows. A third double bedroom sits at the rear of the house with fitted wardrobes and glossy black sliding doors. One final climb to the second floor (note a lovely stained glass window on your way up) reveals a huge bedroom with dual aspect and a post en suite shower-room with Velux window. More? The cellar is great for storing wine and the side facing garden is low-maintenance with a side aspect point to the front of the house. Perfect for bringing the bins/dogs in!

Back to the surrounding area and transport links, the 137 is just around the corner and will whisk you to Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. The 35 and 37 take you quickly to Clapham Junction. Clapham North tube is about 12 minute walk for the Northern line or you've got the Victoria line in Brixton in less than 10. You're within a pleasant amble of Abbeville Village for a slightly more laid back village feel. Acre Lane has some handy shops and a fab Algerian restaurant, Khamsa - we recommend it highly! The Grand Union does ace cocktails and burgers (we've been known to frequent their super cool beet garden). Brixton's all a buzz of late - it's a proper social hub. The Ritzy cinema overlooks the recently re-developed Windrush Square offering a marvellous place to sit, chat and drink coffee. This is before we mention the ocean of funky bars, cafés and restaurants on offer - we love Fujiyama for some noodles and vino. Brixton's covered market supplies a seemingly endless list of world cuisine - you can dine on everything from Columbian to Vietnamese. Honest Burger is to die for - those rosemary chips are having a disastrous effect on the waistbands of Brixtonites and foodies from all over London! The White Horse really rocks out on the weekend and you've got a fab restaurant attached the Brockwell Lido. Keeping fit is no problem with Brockwell Park and Clapham Common. And for families with young children, Sudbourne and Corpus Christi Primary Schools are a matter of seconds for super easy morning commute. Both are highly regarded and have attracted many people to the area, forming a welcoming community.
