About The Area
Pilton is a pretty and sought after Somerset village in beautiful countryside between Wells, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet. The major towns of the area being Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil are all within commuting distance and there are excellent road networks to London and the South. Castle Cary is the nearest train station with fast links to London. Wells, the smallest city in England, nestles close to the Mendip Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty-has excellent local markets twice a week and many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace. Nearby, Glastonbury grew up alongside the Abbey and is a thriving major tourist area.

Shepton Mallet is another historic town which is now rapidly growing and all three towns offer a wide range of facilities, societies and activities. There are excellent state & independent schools in the area including many village primary schools, Crispins, St Dunstans, Strode College, Wells Cathedral School, Millfield, Downside, All Hallows and the Bruton schools.Pilton itself has a church, village pub, village hall, a very active and friendly community and is an exceptionally popular residential area.

No. 1 and No. 2 Batch Cottages are in a short terrace of period properties and are attractive cottages standing back from the lane behind stonewalls and pretty gardens. Both have electric storage heaters and partial double glazing.Currently the cottages are entirely independent but are within the same ownership. Internal connections can be made subject to any necessary consents. Neither cottage is listed.
No1 Batch Cottage
The front stable door opens into the dining room, which has a Victorian fireplace (blocked chimney), a window seat and doors into the sitting room and kitchen.The sitting room has a large window and a stone inglenook fireplace with an inset multi fuel stove. A door to the side of the inglenook opens to a staircase to the first floor.The kitchen has a tiled floor and a range of hand made painted units with beech worktops and an inset Belfast sink. Plumbing for dishwasher and washing machine and a freestanding cooker available by negotiation. The sitting room is at the front of the cottage and being south facing this is a light and sunny room. It has an fireplace with an original range and also the staircase to the first floor.Approached from the sitting room is the kitchen which has a sink unit and cupboards, painted stone walls and a door to the rear garden.Off the kitchen is the bathroom with a hand basin, wc and bath.Upstairs is the bedroom with beams and partly sloping ceilings.

Both cottages are south facing with pretty front and rear gardens.
Directions
Take the lane downhill opposite the pub in the centre of the village. Pass the church and then continue up the small hill into Bread Street. Pass the entrance to Ford Lane on your left and the property is a short distance along on the left hand side.
