Property description

An imposing, extended period home with many Edwardian features alongside some wonderful modern upgrades.

The owners extensive renovations over the years have been very well considered to not only restore the home's character but to add a modern touch to practical areas, such as the kitchen. The impressive entrance sets the tone, and a charming stairway and stripped polished floor is wonderfully finished.

The extension to the rear is a real feature. The open plan style of family room connecting to a crisp, modern kitchen makes this a real focal point and ideal for a family. The contemporary kitchen is set within a light and airy space with French doors at each end to the garden.

Dinner parties in the separate dining room will be a delight. A Victoria style fireplace keeps a cosy feel too. This allows the lounge to be a quiet and relaxed space to enjoy with light flooding in through the bay window.

A utility room and cloakroom complete the layout downstairs and with four bedrooms, en-suite, and full family bathroom upstairs it has great space for everyone.

As a location, it is perfect. A few minutes walk to the harbour, beach and array of restaurants. Shops, cafes, banks and such like, all on hand and there is a regular bus service close by too.

A landscaped garden with private parking at the rear along with lovely views over Whitstable Castle. One definitely not to miss.

What the Owner says:

When we came to this house in the Spring of 2008 what we saw was a handsome Edwardian house (built 1908) which was limited by years of neglect and an inefficient layout.

We have spent a lot of effort (and a not inconsiderable amount of money) making it into the house we really wanted.

It is now easily the favourite of the five homes we have owned over the years. The central location has been wonderfully convenient and backing onto the grounds of Whitstable Castle makes for a really pleasant outlook.

Nice neighbours, a quirky and interesting town - this has been a happy house.
