Property description
Rural tranquillity and stunning countryside views are the hallmark of this delightful property. Stepping through the attractive rustic front door straight into the midst of the lounge and dining room immediately makes you feel at home. The warmth of this character property, with its beams and multi-pane windows, envelops you from the moment you cross the threshold. This atmosphere continues as you pass the charming ‘snug’ with its beamed fireplace where the family can relax in front of the TV, and into the archetypal country kitchen/breakfast room with its large Aga, beamed ceiling and traditional red floor tiles. Any cook will be delighted to prepare meals in such a delightful place – and you can appreciate the views even while you are doing the washing up!
There is a downstairs cloakroom and a very useful boot room off the kitchen, with direct access to the garden – excellent for housing muddy dogs and muddy wellies after a long walk around the nearby fields. Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms including the master and a family bathroom off the spacious landing, providing plenty of flexible accommodation.
Outside offers even more surprises. Surrounded by farmland, the charming but easy-to-maintain garden has a kids’ play area and plenty of space for children and dogs to let off steam as well as a large terrace for outdoor entertaining. Indeed, the patio area is so secluded it almost becomes another ‘room’ in the summertime. Nearby is a separate brick built mini-annex incorporating a good-sized sitting room/bedroom and a shower room. This is ideal as a kids’ den or would make an excellent office if you want to work undisturbed. Also, as it is a separate entity, colleagues and business visitors would not need to go into the main house.
What the Owner says:
However, we are now looking for more space as our children are growing up. We have thoroughly enjoyed bringing up our family here and being able to entertain our friends and our children’s friends – particularly in the summer when we can eat al fresco on the terrace. The area is also a great place for walking the dogs and there are a number of bridle paths for riding enthusiasts. At the same time we are only a few minutes from the bus stop in Staple village so it is easy for the children to get to school. There is the Black Pig pub in Staple with its attractive black and white exterior and roaring fire inside and you will find an excellent farm shop not far away where you can buy top-quality local produce.
There are two very well-stocked garden centres as well as the Barnsole vineyard if you want to try some local wine. Despite being out in the country we are only a couple of miles from the lovely village of Wingham with its two pubs, restaurants, post office and local shops as well as an excellent primary school.
