Stonehouse Lane is a quiet and sought after street, in vibrant Combe Down, a charming village suburb of Bath. Salvatore, the present owner, had lived in the busier area of the village, and was thrilled when 10 Stonehouse Lane came onto the market. He saw the great potential to extend the bungalow into a spacious family dwelling.Salvatore says: Although Combe Down is only just over two miles from Bath city centre it has a distinctly village atmosphere, with local societies, and an excellent primary and secondary school. I enjoy walking to the local shops and purchasing treats from the Darling Deli. Surrounded by woodland and delightful scenery, there are many footpaths and country walks as well as the famous Bath Skyline walk. The good bus service into Bath means you can often leave the car at home. Combe Down is a great family centre, with facilities for every age, and the many work, leisure and cultural opportunities of Bath are close by.The house has a light and inviting ambience, and the kitchen is the busy hub of the home. It is where everyone gathers around the central island to chat with the cook, and enjoy a pre supper drink. I also have an attractive, granite breakfast bar with a difference as it is on casters, and if it is a lovely sunny day, I can position it in front of the window and have breakfast looking onto the garden.The house is the perfect party venue, with a smooth flow of rooms, and the travertine flooring throughout the ground floor is great, as it is so easy to clean and maintain. The house is at its best when full of people and when I was a participant in a Come Dine With Me programme the house accommodated crew and dinner guests with ease.The lounge is the perfect place to wind down after a stressful day and with a glowing jetmaster fire, it is a cosy and relaxing refuge. The bay window is a charming feature and has always been the ideal setting for the sparkling Christmas tree. The small conservatory is a very useful place to leave muddy shoes, or wipe down a muddy dog. The garden is laid mainly to lawn, and the graceful weeping ash tree can provide summer shade. There have been many barbecues and al fresco meals on the patio and you can sit in the garden with an evening wine to catch the last rays of the sun. It is a quiet oasis of calm.I have to relocate for work and will miss the convenience of living in the village and the house which has given me four very happy years.
