Property description

BEAUTIFUL OPEN ASPECT across the South Downs, an ATTRACTIVE and characterful DETACHED HOUSE (approx 1,677 sq ft) RENOVATED to a HIGH STANDARD.

Description
Nestled on the edge of Singleton in an elevated position, Sheep Lane Cottage provides well presented and spacious accommodation throughout with many of the principle rooms offering stunning south westerly views over National Trust land. Having recently been substantially renovated, though retaining many period features, the living space is arranged over two floors and provides the possibility to create a bed and breakfast business, ideal for Goodwood events. Downstairs the kitchen/breakfast room has been sympathetically updated including a oil fire AGA with a dining room/ground floor living room adjacent. Also downstairs is a fourth bedroom with Jack & Jill en suite bathroom. The first floor is accessed via a circular stairwell within a turret and leads directly to the principle sitting room, with feature fireplace, and follows through to a south facing sun room. Also there are three double bedrooms and a recently installed family bathroom.Sheep Lane Cottage benefits from a terraced garden predominantly laid to lawn with an area of off-road parking just at the front of the cottage. Sheep Lane Cottage would make an ideal weekend retreat being so close to the South Downs, Goodwood and the West Sussex coast.

Owners Comments
We bought Sheep Lane Cottage as a big project to create a beautiful country home and although we moved move away much earlier than we had planned, we are extremely proud of the finished result.Starting from the ground up we worked through the surveyors report from rewiring the entire house, putting in a damp course to new plumbing. Then once we had the structure safe and dry we moved onto the fun stuff, which included a new roof on the extension with speaker system and dimmable halogen lighting, a Harvey Jones handmade kitchen, a new walk-in shower, and log-burning stove. In every room we invested in the highest quality of materials and fittings so we knew it would last.People always ask us about the road, it is a small price to pay for the stunning views across the South Downs from the house. It is a bit busier in the morning and evenings, but generally it's not an issue. We planted a thick yew hedge along the length of the garden, which creates a haven for wildlife and softens any outside noises. One of the things we will miss most about Sheep Lane Cottage is the sociable and friendly community, made up of all ages and backgrounds which you instantly become part of, not just in Singleton, but also the surrounding area. Sheep Lane is a fantastic place to entertain your friends and family, we had so many parties both out in the garden with a glass or two of Pimms in the sunshine but also shared cosy evening dinners in front of the log-burner in the sitting room or sitting by the AGA in the kitchen. From memory, we had 30 people over for one night with 16 sitting around the dining room table.
