Property description
Stunning views across the English Channel to France, this attractive modern property in Helena Corniche offers everything a family could want from a marine residence. It has been built on the hillside and designed to take advantage of the wonderful views and provides plenty of flexible accommodation. The family is likely to congregate in the modern and well proportioned kitchen/breakfast room with its island and a breakfast bar as well as beautiful units incorporating a double oven, hob and a discreetly hidden fridge and dishwasher, an adjacent utility room and access to the terrace and landscaped rear garden. The gorgeous 20ft dining room is just the place for hosting dinner parties and family lunches. It overlooks the sea and leads to a balcony and also has a spiral staircase that goes up to the magnificent sitting room – making this a wonderful overall space for entertaining. Views from the lounge are particularly impressive and you can wander out onto the new glass and stainless steel balcony to watch the sun setting or the lights of Calais twinkling in the far distance, while on colder evenings you can relax in front of the lovely wood burning stove. Two of the bedrooms are on the first floor including the master bedroom with an en suite shower room and a walk in wardrobe as well as a second double bedroom and a family shower room. However a few steps down from the kitchen and dining room on the ground floor you will find a large family bathroom and two further double bedrooms, one of which has a veritable wall of mirrored wardrobe and the other has an independent entrance with direct access to a south facing terrace. There is also a small kitchenette, making it possible to create this whole area as a separate annex for older children or an elderly relative. Alternatively it could be used as a holiday let, bed and breakfast guests or offices for anyone working from home. The rear garden has a large terrace for al fresco meals and intriguing steps leading up to woodland interspersed with shrubs and flower borders and includes plenty of nooks and crannies for kids to play hide and seek. While at the front of the property there is a double garage and storeroom as well as a driveway.
What the Owner says:
I bought this house when it was newly built some 23 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed living here. However I am now moving to Spain to start a new chapter in my life and I hope that another family will be able to enjoy it as much as we have. I fell in love with the position and the view originally and the fact that it is very safe for children as it is a cul de sac so there is very little traffic and all the neighbours are very friendly and supportive. There is going to be a memorial garden behind us so there is no possibility of any more properties being built nearby. It is very peaceful, quiet and secluded but we have a number of good pubs and local shops within walking distance as well as our local primary school which is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. We are quite close to Hythe’s historic town centre with its array of individual shops and restaurants as well as Waitrose and Sainsburys and the unique miniature Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway. There are wonderful woodland areas to walk the dog or go for a cycle ride to Hythe or Sandgate where you can browse around the antique shops and we are within walking distance of the beach as well as the Military Canal for a stroll along the towpath. Enthusiastic golfers can enjoy their sport at the Henry Cotton designed golf course at Sene Valley and the Hotel Imperial includes a golf course, tennis courts and spa facilities.
