Side facing windows. Panelled door giving access to roof space which offers more storage, and leads to what used to be a 'cheese ripening' passage way (running above the main entrance hallway). The oval window to the front which has been blocked off is apparently at the end of this passageway.
EXTERNALWith paved and planted courtyard garden to the front plus driveway with parking for 2 cars plus covered parking (with power and light) in the outbuilding at the side of the property, which is separated into 3 sections. It is believed these may have been stables in the past (there may be a possibility of leasing land nearby if equestrian use required). Now used as coal store and potting shed, one of which has power and light. Path to the right leads around to the rear garden and patio, enclosed by dry stone walls. Access to what used to be the old WC, near the kitchen door, now used for garden storage. A gateway to the side of the main porch leads through to a private garden with mature shrubs and trees and a path that leads around to the far side of the house.
HISTORYIt is thought the original owners who built the property in 1694 were William and Isabel Hird, who were Yeoman farmers. Subsequently in the 1800s the property became a brewery, run by the Briggs family - hence the initials over the entrance door to the library. When the current owners bought the property, it was divided into two dwellings. This could easily be achieved again to provide separate accommodation for the extended family. The owners have lived in this happily for many years and are now ready to hand over to the next custodian.
DIRECTIONSFrom Queensbury village crossroads, take the A644 Brighouse Road towards Denholme and after approx 1/4 mile take a right turn into Thornton Road. Proceed along this road until the next junction with the Junction pub straight ahead. To the right of the pub is a small track, which is Brewery Lane - take this road and the property is on the left after approx 100 yards.
