Property description

Introduction to Spring Cottage:
This is a truly classic thatched cottage, in one of the most desirable locations in the UK, offering the highest standard of presentation and comfort, surrounded by beautiful countryside, complemented by superb gardens.
Tucked away in the Lizard Peninsular close to the bustling villages of St Keverne and coastal Coverack, each with stores and excellent places to dine, the peace to be experienced at Spring Cottage is exceptional. The rural lane, while being easy to traverse, has very little conventional traffic. The only sounds come from the local fauna, a stream running on the southern boundary and the sylvan sounds from a gentle breeze. The surrounding woodlands of Nambol are part of the Lanarth Estate and fall in the middle of the Lizard area of outstanding natural beauty which stretches from the southernmost point in England to the spectacular Helford Estuary (4 miles north of the cottage). The Helford River provides one of the best sailing bases in the world and Coverack’s beautiful, sheltered, sandy beach and popular eating destinations make it a favourite local anchorage.
The Lizard undoubtedly provides the best coastal walks in the country and Spring Cottage is the ideal base, within this idyllic landscape.
Additional facilities for business and shopping (national supermarkets) can be found in Helston (11miles) or in the City of Truro some 27 miles away. Redruth (19 miles) has a rapid rail link to London (Paddington) and is by the A30.
Special care has been taken to ensure the cottage is filled with light and that the superb aspects are easily appreciated from the main rooms. This extensively updated 300 year old quintessential thatched cottage is however, not listed.
The formal entrance, a substantial solid panelled oak door, opens to a porch (with cloakroom) and gives access to the main living room with French Doors and windows to the rear, displaying the garden and rural countryside beyond. The ceiling is beamed, there are three further windows to the front but attention is always drawn to the Inglenook fire place, in local granite and serpentine.
The kitchen dining room is filled with light from three sets of windows, French Doors and a skylight. These create the feeling of space and also present the manicured gardens to great advantage.
The gardens occupy around a third of an acre and very gently slope up from the entrance, adjacent to the stream, through lawns, well-tended border beds, past granite chipped path ways, to a vantage point from which the sun can be seen setting through the trees all year round. This part of the garden has a summer house (lined and with power) and at a discrete distance, an unusual seat carved from a tree in the shape of a hand, ideal for contemplation.
Below the summer house an attractive pond adds to the variety and to complete these outstanding grounds, a kitchen garden area has been created to the side of the cottage.

DIRECTIONS:
From the southern tip of Helston, follow the signs to the Lizard and take the A3083 (south) which borders the Royal Naval Air Station. After 2.1 miles take the first exit on the roundabout (left B3293) signposted to  St Keverne. Follow the road for 6.3 miles, look out for Zoar Garage on the right hand side. Turn (fork) left 0.1 miles after the garage, and follow the lane for a mile. Turn left at the T junction, then immediately right. Spring Cottage is on the left after 0.4 miles, set in a copse.
