Property description
Driving along the prestigious Church Cliff Road in Kingsdown, you are immediately impressed by the delightful detached properties that lie alongside this leafy lane. Near the end of this quiet and peaceful road lies this property, a charming late Edwardian residence set well back from the road, high on the cliff overlooking the sea and close to footpaths leading to the beach and the surrounding countryside. You can feel the warm and friendly atmosphere the moment you step inside the house but it is not until you look through the wide French doors in the very attractive lounge that you really appreciate the stunning views across the sea to France. This lovely room, with its Arts and Crafts style wall and ceiling beams and intriguing door latches that seem to be redolent of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Art Nouveau more modernist style, provides plenty of character. The adjacent dining room offers equally splendid views and is ideal if you enjoy hosting family lunch parties or formal dinners. You can wander out on to the large terrace from both rooms and watch the ever-changing sea and skies or sit and relax in the sunshine and maybe wander down the cliff’s edge garden. The red Aga is a real focal point in the delightful country-style family kitchen/breakfast room and the sitting room makes a cosy place to watch TV. However, if you want to work from home this could easily become an office with external access through the French doors to the front garden. Upstairs there are four double bedrooms most with stunning views either over the sea or across the fields and two modern bathrooms, however en suite facilities could be created in two of the bedrooms if required, although vanity units already exist. The whole property has been extremely well-maintained and is just ready for new owners to move straight in.
What the Owner says:
“As a family we fell in love with this house within minutes of walking into it. We loved the fact that so many of the original features had and have been maintained. To wake in the morning and watch amazing sunrises, cloud formations and of course the sea with ships passing in the distance and views across to France. Church Cliff is a no-through-lane, a very safe area and from here one can access the beach in 300 yards. Within a short walk there is a newspaper/ post office, butcher and hairdresser and the village also has three pubs and a highly rated Ofsted school plus playgroup. All these in such close proximity and yet one has the feeling one is on the edge of the countryside with walks across the cliffs to St. Margaret’s Bay and many other delightful country rambles. We have a bus service to Deal or, for the more energetic, one can walk or cycle along the seafront to Deal which was voted High Street Of The Year in 2014. There is now a train service operating from the area to St. Pancras.”
