Property description

The Famous Five would love this location and would most certainly have enjoyed spending their summer holidays at this wonderful property! The area has an almost timeless feel about it, a country lane with high hedges and open fields beyond with barely a neighbour in sight. Just the spot if you are looking for something secluded and yet a short drive from the village with its award winning shop and a couple of lovely pubs or just a little further if you need the facilities of Billingshurst.

The house itself is delightful, marketed for only the second time since 1957, it has a substantial amount of living space downstairs including a sitting room and large dining room either side of the long entrance hall together with a cosy study, large kitchen with an LPG Aga and a breakfast room with a rather unusual porthole window. Many of the rooms have period features in the form of three working fireplaces downstairs and more in three of the four good sized bedrooms plus skirting boards, picture rails and stripped floor boards.

The mature gardens have been divided up to provide areas of interest in each. Of particular note is the swimming pool in the furthest section which is some 26ft long and LPG heated.

Finally there is a large double garage to the side of the house with a workshop and upstairs a large studio/annexe that incorporates a wet room - very useful for the pool!

What the Owner says:

We bought this house over twenty years ago and it’s been a wonderful place to live fuelled by love and laughter! Our family was raised here and we have loved the peace and tranquillity, the walks and views, appreciated the close-knit community in the village of Kirdford and respected that we are only ever a short drive from great shopping and rail links back into London.

The property is such a classic we’re very happy to have called it our home for over 20 years but even the good stuff has to pass. For us we just hope that this timeless classic home provides a new family with those same happy memories, from splashing in the pool to watching the sunset over the downs.
