Property description

This property is a charming name for this beautifully maintained family home nestling in the midst of the Alkham Valley. Backing onto fields and woodland in the distance, it is one of a just a few properties along this far end of a cul de sac so is not only quiet and peaceful but also very safe for children as there is little traffic. This detached property has been designed as a true family home – both inside and out. Set well back from the road on a large plot, it has both a back and front garden that are very private so you can enjoy the great outdoors without being overlooked.

Walking into the welcoming hall you can feel the warm ambience engendered throughout. At the same time, it has just been newly painted so gives a wonderfully clean and fresh appearance and is just ready for a new family to move straight into. The main living space incorporates a large lounge with a fireplace, access to the garden and an archway through to the dining area and, when the glazed doors through to the well fitted kitchen are open, it gives a very spacious and modern open plan feel to the whole area. It also means that anyone in the kitchen can keep an eye on young children playing or join in conversations with guests sitting at the dining table.

The kitchen includes a built in hob and oven as well as an integrated dishwasher, fridge and freezer. There is also a newly installed cloakroom and a very useful study overlooking the garden that could always become a children’s den or a TV room. Upstairs there is a large, galleried landing leading to the family bathroom and four bedrooms including bedroom 1, with its new and contemporary en suite shower.

There is a large patio in the rear garden that is just the place for those summer barbecues or just sitting and looking at the horses or the woods in the distance and listening to the local wildlife. The front garden is surrounded by high hedges so is very secluded and includes a large lawn, a double garage and a wide driveway providing plenty of off road parking.

What the Owner says:

We moved here in 1991 and fell in love with it before we had even walked through the front gate and could see that it would make a wonderful home for our family. Over the years we have enjoyed upgrading the house and garden to provide a delightful place for children and for entertaining. Our grandchildren always have great fun here and will also miss it very much when we move. However, we are spending more time at our house abroad and feel it the right moment to find something smaller.
We love the fact that we are surrounded by the Kent countryside but we were only a few minutes drive from the M20 or A2 for access to London, Canterbury, Dover and the Channel Tunnel, which has been very important from a work point of view. We have made plenty of friends in the village and enjoy the activities in the village hall including monthly film shows and the annual fete. There are lots of bracing country walks and places to ride horses as well as a local stables and a village cricket club. The nearby farm sells top quality meat from home reared animals, while the Alkham garden centre provides everything you want to keep your garden in tip top condition. The excellent Marquis Restaurant and rooms is within walking distance and Tescos and Sainsburys are easily accessible. There are a number of good primary schools nearby including River Primary with its outstanding Ofsted report and a varied selection of private and grammar schools in the vicinity.
