At the front of the property there is a terrace where you can sit and enjoy watching the ships, the ferries and the twinkling lights from Calais and the French ‘White Cliffs’ of Cap Gris Nez across the Channel, while the sunken courtyard with its relaxing water feature is an ideal spot for catching the late afternoon and early evening sunshine. It can really help you to wind down at the end of a busy day.
St Margaret’s Bay offers a small selection of shops including a village post office and has been home to a number of well-known stars. Peter Ustinov bought a small military building on the clifftop, while Ian Fleming owned White Cliffs Cottage where Noel Coward was a regular visitor. In fact, the ‘007’ for James Bond was apparently based on the number 007 National Express bus to Canterbury.”
